A community art project commissioned by the Renton Carco Theater. The design of the mural celebrates the Cedar river, the salmon that run it and the diverse people of the community. After the design was approved by the theater I, with the help of my wife, transferred the design to the wall using black paint. This effectively turned the wall into one giant page from a coloring book. The next day we invited the community to help fill in the colors. To help them I assigned the white spaces with a number and labeled the paint cans with the corresponding numbers. Turning it into a giant paint by numbers. After it was all filled in My wife and I came back the next day to do the final clean up and line work.
